As announced earlier this week, Venerable Sopon Ngawang Tsultrim passed away on May 12, 2021. Sopon-la, which means respected attendant, was both previous and current Lati Rinpoche's attendant. Many of us who came to know him were endeared by his kindness, compassion, and sheer joy.

Upon recommendation by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, we ask all students and friends of GSTDL to recite the mantra OM MANI PADME HUM. His Holiness asked that a cumulative 600k be recited until the 49th day of Sopon-la's passing. Although we are not collecting the counts, we ask those who would like to participate that they recite from 1k-10k a day, especially during this Saka Dawa month.
